The Road South

The evening is damp, but not cold. Tomorrow will be New Years Day 1981. I’m not getting kicked out. I’m sixteen, and I do have a job. My duffel bag has just enough to see me through the coming hours. I set off into the mild winter night aboard my Suzuki X1 50cc motorcycle, and head south. My only company, a new freshly released record repeating between my ears. I've learned a few lines, but not all.  It is the thumping double bass, and the guitar riff with the drop that really has me in a head lock. Runaway Boys…
